Geometry

Grade: 9-10

2 semesters – 1 credit
Prerequisite: Passing grade in Algebra 1

Geometric knowledge from previous courses will be reviewed and extended to establish a foundation for later studies and to help students become aware of geometry in everyday living. Students will use postulates, theorems and Algebra I concepts to explore properties of 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional figures. Topics studied include concepts of formal reasoning leading to a study of proofs, triangles, polygons, circles, planes, coordinate geometry, basic trigonometric functions, and construction. Students will be using a scientific calculator extensively and are encouraged to have one. This course is aligned with the Oklahoma Academic Standards.
