World History

2 semesters – 1 credit

This course is a general survey of the history of mankind. The focus is on political, social, economic and scientific changes that have worked to shape the world in which we live today. A balance of western and non-western cultures is sought as well as an attempt to cover all time periods in history from prehistory, ancient, Middle Ages, to modern times. An emphasis will also be placed on developing geography skills and concepts by a series of map exams and enrichment activities. This course is aligned with the Oklahoma Academic Standards.
